Year 6

Monday 18th January

For Maths today:

Task 1: Bronze, Silver, Gold Platinum sheets (you can do this in the back of your maths book). Remember that the Bronze is aimed at Year 4, Silver at Year 5 and Gold at Year 6 - the platinum is to really get you thinking!

Do what you can, but I'm not expecting everyone to do all the sheets.

Task 2: Today  we'll be looking at the link between fractions and decimals. There are a few key ones that you need to know - we'll go through these in the Zoom call. Complete the worksheets in your maths book. Each worksheet has a revision sheet to go with it. The 2nd worksheet is a bit harder.

If you fancy an extra challenge, click on my maths moji.

For English today:

Watch the video lesson 'Lesson 4'.

Task 1: Use the questions on the worksheet to write some quotes that can be used within your newspaper report.

Remember to use the correct punctuation for your quotes - use the checklist to help you.

Complete the work in the front of your English books - remember to keep it neat!

RE Challenge

What are the five pillars of Islam?

In this lesson, we will be studying in detail the five main pillars of Islam; Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm and Hajj. These are considered by Muslims to be the most important practices of their religion.

I would like you to have a go at this at some stage this week. You can choose which day to do it on.

(The lesson is one from Oak National Academy)

Music Challenge

In music this term we will be looking at Timbre and exploring different sounds using body percussion!

Exploring different sounds

In this lesson, we are going to explore different rhythms in percussive music.

Really look forward to seeing how you get on.

Computing Challenge

This lesson is an optional extra as you will need to access Google drawings or Microsoft publisher or powerpoint. The video uses Google drawings.

Vector Drawings

In this lesson learners will be introduced to vector drawings and begin to have an understanding that they are made up of simple shapes and lines. Learners will use the main drawing tools within a software package. This unit is written assuming the use of Google Drawings ( but other packages such as Microsoft Publisher, or Microsoft PowerPoint can be used if preferred. Learners will discuss how vector drawings differ from paper-based drawings.
